The antioxidant content of Beyond Dark compares favourably with other types of chocolate.
| Type of chocolate | Total antioxidants (mg/100g) |

| White chocolate | 126.39 mg |
Although there is no recommended daily amount (RDA) for antioxidants, food nutritionists suggest that an optimal daily ORAC intake should reach at least a value between 3,000 and 7,000 in order to maintain a good balance between antioxidants and free radical activity in our body.
Beyond Dark has an ORAC score of 308 per gram, equivalent to 30,800 per 100g.
Based on this figure:
- 22g of Beyond Dark provides an ORAC value of approximately 7,000.
- 35g of Beyond Dark provides an ORAC value of approximately 10,780.
ORAC stands for Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity and is the universal measure of antioxidant content.
ORAC score or value is used by nutritionists to identify which foods offer a higher capacity to absorb free radicals. The more oxygen radicals a food or compound can absorb, the higher the ORAC score or value.
Antioxidants are found in fruits, vegetables and many other foods, including cocoa. Dark chocolate is naturally rich in antioxidants.
